Farah Gilani enjoys the simple things in life — coffee, dogs and of course working out.
As a coach at CrossFit QuickSand, Farah’s favorite moment is when she is able to guide an athlete to achieve a better result. When they are able to accomplish something new, she says, “The look on their face is priceless and gets me every time.”
Farah was active growing up, participating in cross country, track, basketball and softball. In college, she found herself going to the gym daily and quickly becoming burnt out on the monotony of treadmills, machines and crunches. She decided to make a change and began getting outdoors more. She soon found herself tackling grueling physical feats like climbing Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa, and cycling from Bombay to Goa, India, 600km of unforgiving rolling hills.
She was introduced to CrossFit from her sister-in-law. Soon, Farah began recruiting all her family and friends to not only CrossFit, but a healthy and active lifestyle. After years of family and friends pushing her to get into coaching, she gave in and, in her words, was “the best decision yet.”
